Halloween 2022!

Halloween 2022 guidelines for attire! The suggestions below are not a FULL list of everything you can and cannot do… They’re just some suggestions to help you plan for an awesome day that does not get HR called on you.

HealthPoint Team – DRUM ROLL…You are officially encouraged to wear Halloween attire on Monday, October 31st, 2022! First and foremost, we must ensure we’re providing a welcoming space for our patients and the excellent care they deserve. Halloween-themed clothing is brand new this year. Let’s be sure we understand the assignment. A few friendly reminders follow:

• Make sure you can safely perform your job in your outfit. Edward Scissorhands is out.
• A costume that starts with “sexy” isn’t on the menu. Save your perfect Magic Mike-inspired outfit for the after-party.
• Don’t terrify people. Pass on that flesh-eating zombie costume unless you’d like to spend an afternoon with HR. (Love you, HR, but… y’all get it.)
• Show your face – We already wear masks; let us see that perfect winged liner!
• Avoid religious, political, disability, national origin, sexual orientation, racial, or age variety costumes.
• Be fun, not offensive. Participate! Even if you’re not the costume type.
• Google some zero-effort costumes and amaze us with your creativity.
• Accessorize your everyday work attire with props like hats, wigs, face paint, or headbands – Queue Dr. Nic in a chef’s hat! Group costumes are encouraged!

It is all about strengthening bonds with your coworkers and having FUN! Cop costumes are fabulous! Having the cops called because you brought your nunchucks to the clinic isn’t. Leave the faux (and real) weaponry at home. TAKE PHOTOS AND SHARE THEM WITH ME! The Senior Leadership Team has trusted all of us with this new costume adventure. Welcome to our Wake up with Water Virgin Pulse Challenge!

HealthPoint has teamed up with Virgin Pulse to offer a new wellness program you can access right from your phone – and we’re hosting our first challenge!

The contest rules are below:

They say it takes 21 days to make a habit. We want YOU to join our wake-up with water challenge starting October 1st!

Here are the rules:

• The Wake Up with Water challenge starts on Saturday, Oct 01st, and runs until the end of the month, Monday, Oct 31.
• You must log into your Virgin Pulse account daily and attest you’ve drank your water by clicking “Yes” during the 31 days.
• Each daily “Yes” is counted toward the challenge results. “No” clicks do not count.
• When the challenge ends, you have two days to track the habit for the 31 days of the challenge.
• All members in the same challenge can see your total number of “Yes” clicks.
• Once you join the challenge, you cannot leave it.
• The clinic or location with the highest number of “Yes” clicks wins a PRIZE.
• Members could earn 200 points for achieving the 21/31 days for this healthy habit.

Welcome to the TACHC Survey Prep Blog!

As we prep for the TACHC Survey, we wanted to reflect on our progress over the last year. You will receive the  Texas Association of Health Centers survey out on Thursday, September 1st, 2022. HealthPoint participates in this survey to get your anonymous feedback, gauge our progress, and see how we fare compared to similar organizations. One of our goals in 2022 was to improve our score on specific questions.

“In the last six months, someone has talked to me about my progress.”

Here’s a quick recap of the work we have done to continue to make Manager and Leadership progress on this TACHC Survey question:

Think of every elite athlete you’ve watched on TV or seen in person. Want to know what those athletes have in common? They have a coach!

Managers and Leaders are our coaches, and their job is to help us reach peak performance. Whether we hope to “climb the ladder” or do a great job right where we are, we need feedback on our skills. We crave suggestions about improvements. And we want acknowledgment of the challenges we face. When Managers and Leaders share this honest and constructive performance feedback, we better understand how we’re doing at work and how our work makes a difference at HealthPoint.

HealthPoint has invested in Managers and Leaders, training them to round on and coach their teams more efficiently and effectively. Managers and Leaders use rounding ​and coaching conversations as opportunities to help us reach our peak performance. They may ask you ​if you have the tools and equipment you need to do your job or what ideas for improvements you have.

As you prepare to answer the question, “In the last six months, someone has talked to me about my progress,” ask yourself, has my leader rounded with me? Have we had a coaching conversation? Did they provide me with feedback?

“At work, my opinions seem to count.”

Let’s quickly cover ways HealthPoint allows us to share our thoughts and opinions.

We all want to feel like we’re making a difference at work. Knowing what we do and what we think matters makes us feel valued. How our company listens to and processes those ideas and opinions greatly affects our job satisfaction.

Great ideas increase efficiency, improve patient experience and outcomes, and increase recruitment and retention. HealthPoint cannot implement every idea, but we know we have an outlet to share and that Managers and Leaders encourage us to do so. Rounding, huddle, Charting the Course, Orange Frog, and surveys are just a few of the forums we employees can use to share ideas and opinions. 

Sharing our ideas builds our confidence in the direction HealthPoint is going. It reminds us we have a direct impact. If you’ve been through Orange Frog, you’ve heard me shout from the rooftops, “YOU HOLD THE KEYS TO THE CULTURE AT HEALTHPOINT!” Holding those keys is another example of how your opinion and ideas are essential to the continued success of our organization.

“I feel that there is good communication between departments.”

We’ve asked for your feedback on how we can improve during Charting the Course, pulse surveys, and in-person. Here’s a quick recap of the answers we received and the changes we implemented:

1. Timely responses – 48 working hours for emails. You noted this might include “Let’s visit next week,” “I don’t know,” or an out-of-office reply. 
2. Clear directions – You know what to do, when, and where to do it, and you know whom to ask questions from if you need help.
3. Access to information – We have the Intranet, Teams, Emails, newsletters, and phone calls. 
4. Owning communication failures – When we identify interdepartmental communication failures, we address them and establish a system to ensure we don’t make the same mistake multiple times.
5. Progress reports – Regularly updating you on where we are with ongoing projects is essential! We’ve added this to our Charting the Course meeting and monthly newsletters.
6. Being heard – Rounding is our primary tool to ensure you have dedicated 1:1 time with your Leader. Additionally, we have the Ask-It-Basket, which is anonymous and goes straight to our CEO, Terri Sabella. 
7. Factual – You understand that good communication is factual. The answer may not be what you want to hear, but we share it. No ghosting. 

Lastly, we need to include what good communication is not: Gossip. There is an excellent reason you don’t know why Goldie is out today, why Xavier is on leave, or why Ned is no longer with the company. In life, sometimes things happen that you need to handle with your boss or HR, but you don’t want it put on blast for the whole world to know. Should you find yourself in this position one day, we wager that you will be thankful for how HealthPoint Leaders manage this information. Like our patients, employees have a right to a certain degree of privacy. 

Our goal is to help you make this the best place to work. After all, you hold the #KeysToTheCulture #IYKYK. Leaders have invested substantial time addressing your shared concerns and will continue to do so. Thank you for your hard work and for going above and beyond to ensure our patients receive the best care.
