Professional Career:
Shelly Hitchcock, APRN, FNP-C, is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner with nearly 20 years of nursing experience. As the only member of her family to enter the medical field, she feels that healthcare is truly her calling. Shelly chose medicine because of its challenges, opportunities for learning, and ability to make a difference in people’s lives. She is proud to serve her hometown of Caldwell and is excited to provide high-quality medical care to her community.
Her nursing career began as an LVN, and she worked her way up through the RN-ADN transition program at Blinn College, followed by earning her BSN from UT Arlington. She later completed the MSN-FNP program at Texas A&M University in 2022, fulfilling her goal of becoming a Family Nurse Practitioner.

Shelly has dedicated her career to providing healthcare in rural communities. Having lived in a rural area all her life, she understands the importance of accessible care without the burden of long travel times. Her goal is to build trusting relationships with her patients and ensure they receive quality care close to home.
Her background includes inpatient hospital care, long-term care, surgical nursing, and school/community health nursing. As a medical provider, she has experience in Family Medicine and post-acute care in skilled nursing facilities.

Outside of work, Shelly loves spending time with her husband and two daughters (ages 16 and 9). Their family stays busy with extracurricular activities and caring for their cattle. They value hard work, family traditions, and enjoying time outdoors. When they get the chance, they love visiting new restaurants and taking vacations to the beach.
