Education:
In 2003, Shelly attended Blinn College in Brenham to obtain her LVN certification. She then obtained her RN Associate’s degree through Blinn College in 2006. Shelly didn’t stop there. She went on to complete her Bachelor of Science in Nursing through the University of Texas at Arlington in 2017 before she was accepted into the Family Nurse Practitioner program the subsequent year. Shelly graduated from Texas A&M University with her Master of Science in Nursing – Family Nurse Practitioner degree in 2022, which was the fourth stepping stone in her educational journey.

Professional Career:
Shelly’s professional career has included floor nursing in a rural hospital, an operating room, a long-term care facility, school nursing, and home health care. She has several years of experience in both bedside care and nursing management. Shelly said:
“I am grateful for each of these experiences as they will foster a holistic approach as a new provider. I am really excited and looking forward to continuing to learn and grow as a provider.”

Why HealthPoint:
Much of Shelly’s nursing career has focused on rural and underserved populations. Being born and raised in a rural community, she knows the importance of access to care in these areas and the impact it can have on the quality of life for many individuals. She said,

More about Shelly:
“In my spare time, I love spending time with my husband and two daughters. I really enjoy the simple things in life the most and I cherish times when we are able to eat meals together, work around our home, and make trips to the pastures to check our cattle. I also enjoy a good shopping day with my girls and catching up with friends and family.”
