Professional Experience & Passion for Rural Medicine
Dr. Walker’s path to medicine was shaped by a diverse academic background and a desire for meaningful, hands-on patient care. After beginning in engineering and spending time in Bible college, he ultimately found his calling in medicine. Since graduating, he has embraced the challenges and rewards of caring for patients, particularly in rural settings.
He has a strong interest in the Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) model, which emphasizes access to care for underserved populations. Dr. Walker is especially excited about HealthPoint’s partnership with Texas A&M College of Medicine to develop a rural medicine track within a family medicine residency program—helping train the next generation of rural physicians.
